Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts announces Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius will begin taking reservations on 30 March for stays starting from 1 November 2015. The Shangri-La brand is set to assume management of the legendary Indian Ocean resort on 15 April, when the property will close for a major renovation. The renovation will encompass all guestrooms and public areas and bring Shangri-La’s well-known spa and restaurant concepts to Mauritius.
Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa will be the second property in the brand’s growing portfolio of extraordinary five-star resorts in the Indian Ocean, joining Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives—one of the world’s leading luxury resorts—and preceding the highly anticipated opening of Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka in 2016.
Located on the east coast of Mauritius in one of the island’s most spectacular bays, the five-star Le Touessrok Resort is among the world’s most distinguished. It has three villas and 200 sea facing guestrooms and suites. Along with extensive water and land-based activities, it offers guests access to Ilot Mangenie, a private, secluded isle with 3.5 kilometres of pristine beach. The resort is also located within five minutes of Ile aux Cerfs, where the 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course designed by Bernhard Langer is located.
“The opportunity to manage the iconic Le Touessrok Resort is one we are thrilled about. Mauritius is one of the most beautiful islands in the Indian Ocean and the resort has a tremendous heritage. We look forward to bringing Shangri-La’s hallmark hospitality from the heart to Mauritius and to sharing more details about the exciting launch of Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa this coming autumn,” said Shangri-La President and CEO Greg Dogan.
Shangri-La’s holding company, Shangri-La Asia, signed a joint venture with Le Touessrok’s primary stakeholder, Sun Resorts Limited, in June 2014.
“We are excited about the developments ahead for Le Touessrok Resort, a property which has a magnificent reputation for stellar service, spectacular scenery and a rich history as one of the most impressive properties in the Indian Ocean. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Shangri-La Asia, and believe our new agreement will make for a hugely successful future for the resort,” said Sun Resorts Limited CEO Philippe Cassis.
