The Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort was voted among the Best Overseas Hotels in the 2014 Annual Travel Awards organized by Travel & Leisure (China), Travel & Leisure GOLF and TravelandLeisureChina.com. Among 38 winners around the world, the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort was the only recipient from Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.
The award was presented at a ceremony in Beijing on Feb. 4 following the decision of high-end travellers, editors and readers from Travel & Leisure and Travel & Leisure GOLF who also voted for overseas travel destinations, airlines, cruise lines and top-level golf courses around the world. The awards have been run annually since 2009 and are one of the most authoritative and influential awards in China’s hospitality industry.
The judges praised the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort for its well-appointed guest rooms, international cuisine, its overall scenic location and attentive guest services.
Mr. Mervin N. Chedumbarum, minister counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Mauritius, awarded the prize on stage to Mr. Ming Yue, Outrigger Resorts’ marketing representative in China.
Pieter van der Hoeven, general manager of the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort, said: “Our hosts work hard to deliver a fantastic holiday experience for our guests, so we are very grateful for such discerning recognition from China.”
Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort opened in April 2014 and offers a stunning absolute beachfront setting on the Indian Ocean in the Bel Ombre nature reserve on the south of the island. The deluxe 181-key, all sea view property blends the needs of the most sophisticated traveller with the charm and traditions of an early 17th century Mauritian sugar cane plantation. The resort redefines island-style accommodation and invites travellers into an exquisite culinary journey through the discovery of multicultural Mauritian flavors.
Guided by Outrigger Resorts’ standard of hospitality known as “The Outrigger Way” (interpreted as “Ensame” in Mauritius), the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort devotes itself to sharing authentic local experiences that reflect the heritage of Mauritian culture.
