Bedell Trust has been judged the best owner-managed trust company of the year by the Society of Trust Practitioners (STEP) at their annual Private Client Awards ceremony in London this month.
The award is open to all trust companies not controlled by a bank anywhere in the world and Bedell Trust, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, was selected as the top firm from a short list of five owner managed companies. Bedell Trust is headquartered in Jersey and has offices in the key finance locations of Guernsey, London, Dublin, Geneva, and Mauritius.
Nick Cawley, chief executive officer, Bedell Trust, commented:
Our commitment to client service has been an important factor in winning this prestigious award. A willingness to listen to client needs and to respond appropriately with a commercial solution, which takes into account the changing market conditions, is a culture embedded into the trust offices in all the jurisdictions where we are based and underscores all our work. It is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of everyone at the firm and we are particularly delighted to have won it in our anniversary year.’
The STEP Private Client Awards ceremony took place at the London Hilton Hotel in Park Lane where Nick Cawley and partner Pauline Gale, Managing Director of Bedell Trust UK, received the award from leading impressionist, actor and comedian Alistair McGowan.
The judges described Bedell Trust as ‘clearly offering a sterling service, growing rapidly and organically. They provide an excellent client tax compliance process and flexibility on asset classes under administration.’
The award for Bedell Trust is one of a number awarded to Bedell this year reflecting the continued growth and successful expansion of both the trust company and the law firm. Alongside the STEP award, Bedell Trust was also judged as one of the ‘Top 25 Most Admired Companies in 2011’ by Private Client Practitioner magazine and law firm Bedell Cristin secured the equally prestigious ‘Offshore Client Service’ award from Chambers Europe and ‘International Law Firm of the Year 2011’ from publishers Citywealth.
