Routledge Modise in association with Eversheds branches out to Mauritius

This week Routledge Modise Eversheds opens its doors for business in Port Louis, Mauritius. This will be the first Mauritian office of a South Africa law firm. The office will be headed up by Miro Dvorak, a commercial attorney with experience in corporate finance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, global business and operations restructuring, investment and global “CIS” funds, banking, debt and aviation finance, as well as in the hotel and leisure industries. The official launch will be on 21 May 2009 at the Hotel Labourdonnais in Mauritius.

Terry Mahon, chairman of Routledge Modise in association with Eversheds, Johannesburg, says: “We realised that there are tremendous business opportunities in Mauritius and felt that we needed a local presence in order to provide hands-on legal advice to our clients. Miro Dvorak, who was with the firm from 1992 until 1998, will be running the Mauritius office. He will be bringing a number of substantial clients to the practice which will add to the clients the firm already has in Mauritius.”

Says Miro Dvorak: “As with trade and economies which have moved beyond national boundaries, so too has the need for commercial legal services. We foresee a myriad of business opportunities for our clients using the Mauritius jurisdiction as a gateway and conduit in this geographically dispersed global scale.”
