Lord Mayor of London reiterates UK’s interest as partner of choice for Mauritius

The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Lord Jeffrey Mountevans, who is leading a business delegation from 28th February to 1st March 2016 in Mauritius, reiterated the United Kingdom’s interest to remain the regional partner of choice for Mauritius.

He made this statement this morning during a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.

Lord Jeffrey Mountevans said his meeting with Prime Minister Jugnauth was fruitful with discussions focused on strengthening bilateral, commercial and economic ties between the two countries.

He also spoke about the potential areas of cooperation between the UK and Mauritius with particular emphasis on the education and training qualifications and the maritime sector, in addition to the financial and legal services sector.

He further expressed UK’s determination to assist Mauritius by providing expertise in the setting up of the Smart Cities across the island.

Lord Jeffrey Mountevans is the first Lord Mayor of London to visit Mauritius. The purpose of his visit is to prompt economic relationship in the financial and legal services sector.
